Dover High-Rise Traction Elevators at The Palace in Myrtle Beach
Riding one of YouTube’s well notorious elevators at The Palace in Myrtle Beach, SC. These are no longer deathtrap, but they still have a totally messed up controller. I apologize for the bad word in the middle of the video, the elevator was stopping every 2 to 5 floors. What the controller did is that it changed my up call into a down call (for some reason if you press up on a floor other than the lobby, it is changed into a down call), and the elevator came and ringed down. I pressed 23, an up queue, but before the elevator does this it has to handle any calls that were made on the lowest floors before I pressed 23, since it was given a down call. Therefore, the elevator went down, despite me pressing the 23 button. Then a lady got on, pressed G after I repressed 23, and the elevator went up to 23 because I guess it now took my 23 call and the the G call. @WDLawless I do not know. I think it is almost impossible to get in there. I wonder why you never driven north of? Grande Dunes to the Marriott and Kingston Plantation.
@escalatorgeek881 My bad! The Margate Tower at Kingston Plantation must be a new building. I’ve never driven north of Grande Dunes while I was delivering pizzas there. How many elevators are in Margate??
@WDLawless Actually, the Palace is the fifth tallest building in Myrtle Beach. I filmed the elevators at the Anderson Ocean Club (second-tallest in Myrtle Beach), which is taller than this one. The Margate Tower at 30 floors is the tallest building in Myrtle Beach and the second-tallest in South Carolina,? behind the 25-floor Capitol Center in Columbia (floors have higher ceilings).
I lived there for 9 months…on the 21st floor. I always thought that those elevators were demon-possessed. The Palace is the tallest? building in Myrtle Beach.

I guess this elevator has a case of “dissociative fugue,” since it doesn’t recognize the up-down? calls, and then goes to another floor.

@clarkloveselevators It is a long known superstition, that 13 is an unlucky number. One occurrence that supports this is the failure of the Apollo 13 mission, where rocket components sized. Not all building follow this superstition, as there are buildings with a 13th floor (I have seen it). China has 4 as an unlucky number because the word “four” sounds like the word death in the Chinese language. This is seen in? buildings that skip all floors numbers with a 4 in it.

@xxxSasukeisminexxx I lived there for 3 years … hated it too cuz I was homesick & everything is overpriced. BUT now I miss it -? U just gotta decide to make the most of it – one thing that helped me be happy there – because only I was happy there by the time I had to leave (long story). Is when I got into Christian Life Center – you should check them out & see if it cheers you up!

I love this song. I’m down on the Grand Strand every moment I get. I remember a couple Summers ago when I was in N. Myrtle Beach, beatiful hot sunny day and I? was out in the waves and this song was blasting from speakers on the beach. Good times!
